Every Platypus team member can dedicate up to 10% of their working hours to pro bono work for a charity of their choice.
For Charlotte, our Senior Search Marketing Executive, this opportunity has allowed her to further a cause that’s deeply personal.
A charity born from personal experience
Charlotte founded Lymphoma Out Loud in 2017 following her own experience with lymphoma.
Since then, she’s been working tirelessly, both at Platypus and outside, to establish the charity and spread its critical message: lymphoma is the most common cancer in young people.
Star power from 911
The charity has a powerful voice in their ambassador Lee Brennan, singer-songwriter from the beloved boy band 911.
This week marked a significant milestone as Charlotte accompanied Lee to the ITV studios, where he appeared on the This Morning sofa.
Lee bravely shared his story of being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma as a young person. He spoke candidly about how the chemotherapy treatment he underwent means he won’t be able to have children.
Most importantly, Lee used this platform to talk about how important it is to check lymph nodes properly. That will leave viewers with knowledge that could lead to early detection.
Inspiring colleagues to join the movement
Charlotte’s passion for the cause has rippled throughout Platypus.
She’s inspired colleagues like John to contribute their skills to various aspects of Lymphoma Out Loud’s mission.
Together, they’re even training for the Hackney Half Marathon to raise money for the charity.
Pride in purpose
We’re so proud of Charlotte and the awesome work she’s doing with Lymphoma Out Loud.
The recent campaign with Lee will raise awareness, and we hope it reaches as many people as possible with its life-saving message.
